  • If you’re reading this, chances are you’re in the midst of the two-week wait (TWW) after your in-vitro fertilization (IVF) cycle. You have injected yourself religiously with hormones, you have been scanned, prodded and analyzed. You have even dealt with the indignities of a room full of people examing or working on you as your leg is propped up in order to place your embryo back inside your womb. For me placing the embryo into my womb was the easiest part of my IVF experience. Quite frankly it went so fast that I was not even aware when the embryo was placed inside my womb. I was told to return to the recovery room. Rest for 30 to 45 minutes and then head back home for 48 hours of bed rest. My exact word was, that’s it. My doctor replied yes that’s it. It is pretty quick considering the length of time and work put into creating the embryo. Yes , that’s it. I headed to the recovery room and rest on a lazy boy chair for about 45min.
  • Then I head back to my car for about 3 hours Drive back home. At his point, we can’t do anything else. What was next was to wait out the two weeks wait to determine if I got pregnant.
  • The car ride back home wasn’t easy. Extra attempt was made to avoid pumps. My husband and I didn’t want to make any mistake that will cause us to lose the baby. Ye,s our head knew better but we were hell bend on taking all the precausions we can control.
  • As for you, considering the amount of stress You have to put on our own body these past months, At this point, you are nearly hanging on.
  • The TWW is notoriously the most emotionally challenging part of the entire IVF process. You’re full of hope and anxiety, waiting to see if all your hard work will pay off.

  • Get plenty of rest.
  • The first 48 hours you are on bed rest ensure to stay there. Watch your favourite shows and movies it helps pass the time.
  • At this point, you are taking Progesterone. it is needed to keep the lining of the womb thick and healthy. It will affect your mood. you might feel depressed and anxious. schedule a counsellor or therapist time. You will also experience sore boobs and frequent urination and constipation. It mimics pregnancy and PMS. So try not to put it on your spouse and love one. If you do understand is your hormones. talking and not you. Be gentle to yourself.
  • Practice relaxation techniques: things like deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, and visualization can help to reduce anxiety.
  • Avoid anything that will stress you out. Avoid negative thinking or situation and stay positive
